Church History
Deal Pentecostal Church, Deal, had its beginnings in 1927 when Evangelist Stephen Jeffreys held a Healing Crusade at the Winter Gardens Theatre in Stanhope Road. The East Kent Mercury report stated: Evidently the Pastor believes in the maxim that the devil is mad when God’s people are glad. His sermons are decidedly good.
At the end of that crusade an Assemblies of God Pentecostal Church was formed and met in Nelson Road, eventually buying a building in Western Road. In 1989 the Church bought their present property in Mill Hill, changing their name to New Life Christian Centre and then in 2006 to Deal Pentecostal Church. This building was originally Glynn Vivian Miners Mission which was established in 1927 to support the newly opened Kent coal mines at Betteshanger and surrounding areas.
